Tools, Technologies, and Processes at the Intersection of Data Governance and Compliance / Auditing / Security Issues.

In these days of heightened security risks and ever-increasing compliance demands, we can't just "do" IT work. A job isn't done until we
"do it - control it - document it, and - prove compliance."

That's a lot of work. It's hard to monitor data usage and to prove that you're meeting compliance requirements. It's hard to collect information needed by auditors, and it's really hard to do this in a way that won't break the budget or slow down systems.

This type of work is only really feasible with the use of tools - software products and utilities that often do what yesterday's wisdom said was impossible.

With these new breeds of tools, it's now possible to manage access to information in a variety of ways. We can protect information through encryption, anonymization, pseudonymization, de-identification, and masking. We can monitor who is accessing data, what they're doing with it, and where they're sending it. We can view this security and compliance information through easy-to-read, easy-to-search audit trails.

So if your organization has the need to support auditing, to support litigation or forensics, or to improve data security, you might need products such as the ones described here in the Showcase. Check out what our vendors have to say about how their tools support common governance, compliance, auditing, and compliance goals.

A Note From Our Publisher

The Data Governance Institute
is Vendor-Neutral. But we're
not tool-blind; we know that it
usually takes the careful
application of software to
achieve all your Data
Governance and Compliance / Auditing / Security goals. Although we haven't been able to personally examine and validate the solutions presented here, we know you'll want to hear what the these vendors have to say about how they can solve your specific problems and make your programs and projects successful. Enjoy!
